Re: Swap suggestion feeler.
Smuggler & Zen Leecher are sorted, just awaiting one package delivery which was posted three days after theirs, so stands to reason it might be delivered a day or three after they get theirs.
So we have settled on 9 tiers so 9 flies- no auction/donation set?
Seeing as how Ruard is about the farthermost and already has his flies tied up ready to send- I think the date is most fair.
"Any fly type your heart desires"..... man does that lend itself to some surprises!

Sitting here enjoying the afternoon heat wave. 43 F this morning on the walk to work, over 80 now at 4:15 PM. I'll be taking a small break from tying flies for the shop to tie flies for the swap. Simple, right? You gotta love Montana....well, except maybe the winters. Summers in Montana, winters in New Zealand, that's the ticket.

Heat wave. Hmmm. Well the heat hit 101 today. The wind was blowing hot air at 15 mph or so, with gusts. Drying everything out. Tomorrow will be 103 for a high. The humidity is the worst. I would trade your heat wave, for mine.
Yes, Montana must be very pleasant at this time of the year. But the winters in Montana, now that is COLD. Brr....

Woke up and it was close to 70*, Noon temps in the shade were 104*
4 pm. 106* ... Thank Goorp the humidity was only 3%, yep 3%.....
Right now the temp. is 89* . Should get down to the low 70's tonight.
So hot I can't use the computer during the day after 10:00 am.

Does this "only what came in your envelope" mean "no substitution of materials" or "no materials extra whatsoever"? I'm looking at a tinsel tag and wondered which side of the line it is on.fflutterffly wrote:OK EVERYONE!!!! LISTEN UP!!!!

Re: Swap suggestion feeler.
the "Envelope" arrived in the mail yesterday afternoon so I am ready to start cranking out the flies. I also was wondering about tinsel or wire as I was considering putting a rib on the fly I have in mind. What is the consensus? Is tinsel or wire okay to be used in the flies?

Re: Swap suggestion feeler.
Here's a prototype with a tag. One problem I had with the tag was the mylar slipped from my fingers a couple of times. That's the reason the tag isn't wrapped properly and why I call it a prototype. It's got a gold tag, a two strand wrapped gray wool body, a possum thorax and a folded hen mallard wing. I think it needs the addition of a rib to accent it. Probably needs the thorax built up a bit more also.

Re: Swap suggestion feeler.
Fine looking prototype and I would fish that in a minute just the way it is.
Can I go out on a limb here..... seeing as how I sent some of the contents a lot of you got in your "envelopes" and say that we are allowed to introduce the hook, thread and rib/tag of our own choice to the pattern...... seeing as how the fool that sent out the pack contents neglected to add these materials for the two good hearted forum members who did the dividing and mailing duties?
Hook, thread and rib can be introduced.... the rest of the fly must come from the contents of your pack.
Sound fair?

My submission:
I have no idea what fur I used, but I did use the grey yarn for the body and the hen grizzly for the heavy hackle. What is the fur?
