The Wilted Spinach

Odd name, I know. This fly has somewhat of a "following" in the PNW. I have fished this pattern for years with wonderful results both in stillwaters and moving waters. It's certainly not a "traditional" tie of a soft hackle with the tail "bubble" but nevertheless very effective. The originator, a gentleman named John Bartlett, designed this fly while living in Montana and brought it to Oregon where it seemed to achieve it's popular status. He ties it with a full body for moving water and a much thinner body for stillwater fishing.

Tail: 2 strands pearl Krystal flash folded over in a loop
Body: equal parts orange, gold and blonde hares ear dubbing. ( I use equal parts orange seal, with gold and blonde simi seal)
