Here is my attempt at imitating the little bright green Rhyacophila caddis larva. The body is two layers of micro tubing. This is transparent so that the hook shank shows through as a ventral part of the bug. A little mixed beaver dubbing for the thorax and a Starling soft hackle. Hook is a Fire Hole #317 size 18.

Gorgeous. I have been tying and using some Midge Larva and Emergers this Winter, using the technique you used. I plan on using the same technique on caddis patterns such as yours. You have a great looking pattern there. Thanks for the inspiration.

This pattern is amazing! The focal point of the pattern is the body naturally (I like "electric" light gathering bodies such as yours) but my eye is quickly drawn to the thorax and hackle work on the front end! Very nicely done! It is very caddis like in overall appearance! I can imagine the starling hackles imitating so well the legs and antenna of the natural!

When I used to fish in Idaho a lot I used similar pattern except I used caddis green glass Killer Beads for the abdomen. They took a lot of fish. Yours should do as well. I used to pick the beads up here on my way over to Idaho. http://www.worleybuggerflyco.com/WAPSI/ ... sBeads.htm

PS. Used to do pretty well with the Root Beer color beads as well.
