Some Alice Conba flies (warning: picture heavy!)

Folks,

Over the past weekend I have been busy photographing a set of flies tied by Alice Conba - a slew of patterns
which I will soon add to her set already present on Flytier's Page.

For those not familiar, Alice is a professional flytier (or flydresser<G>) from Ireland, and she turns out a
mean fly. Some, not all, of the recent set fall into the wingless wet class of patterns.

I thought perhaps some of you might appreciate a sneak preview:

As usual, Alice does not disappoint. I've drooled over her flies on your Tier's site for years, Hans. As usual, the photography is also superb, doing justice to every detail and nuance. Nice work on both counts. I wish I knew her better.

Looking at these again in the cold light of day and they really are absolutely beautiful. I am trying to teach myself to tie in the Irish style at the moment, and I couldn't ask for a better set of 'models'. The use of colour and space is superb, isn't it? Thanks again for posting, Hans. :)

Andrew.

Masterfully done, Hans. When I was just getting started in the wet fly genre a few years back, a knowledeable friend directed me to your "Danica" site to view some of Alice's ties ... specifically, her "Light Greenwell" grouping. I've been a fan of her dressings ever since, and your photography as well.

Hans perhaps you might be able to answer this question. I have often viewed your site and the the lovely ties of Alice Conba. Now today viewing these ties of Alice can you tell me if these are of a repetitive build for each pattern? Perhaps a silly query but I'm usually good for a couple of a pattern and I'm off to something else. This of course takes a huge bite out of my tying time getting materials out and putting them away. Just wondering if someone such as Alice has some sort of set parameters as to how many of a pattern gets tied before she is off to something else?

Regards, Jerry
