Thanks for posting Donald, very interesting. It is fascinating to see the old patterns, because they are proven fish catchers. But then we can start to play ourselves, use them as a base point and explore what it is that actually triggers the fish to take.

Thank you Donald, You truly must have a library of some size and depth. The flies that you have tied are first rate to say the least.

Good stuff Donald.
I posted a Lawrie nymph a few months ago sSearch Rough Stream Nymph) tied with cat fur along the top. Make no mistake, these type of nymphs really work on the spate rivers in the UK.
