Great looking fly Hans. The 102Y is one of my favorite softy hooks for fishing. I love the looks of the fly but to be honest I have never had much luck with the really soft full hackled flies. For steelhead yes, but not for trout. Do you fish it any different in particular than others.

Not really, Carl. Pretty much all I fish upstream, dead drift, in film or slightly under. Most of the takes are quite visual.

I carry a mix of sparse and fuller patterns.

Hans,
I was looking at this pattern for a long time and the word that comes to mind is....flow!
Watching it from right to left (head to tail), it does indeed flow. I really appreciate the structure of this pattern and I am amazed at how well the different materials come together under your command! I would suspect that the way this fly is constructed, it would, when wet, have that certain glow or radiance that is the hallmark of your tying. Great job Hans and it's good to see you posting patterns again!
