Vicki - This is exactly what I thought when I looked at the photo for the first time. Beautiful fly Ruard!

Have you been getting much fishing in Ray? It seems a good year for it.

Unfortunately not. I have had to many home improvement projects to finish before the snow flies. My weekends have been too busy for the past month to get out at all. Now that my tying desk is finished, I need to find time to get out on the stream...

Hi Ruard,
I thought you would like to know, G. E. M. Skues invented
a 'Carrot Nymph' as a joke.
What really surprized everybody was the damned thing
could catch trout, not the least Skues himself.
Here is the pattern, I never got round to tying it myself.
Name: Carrot Nymph.
Hook: Size 14 - 16.
Silk: Primrose silk.
Tail: Green parrot feather-fibres or substitute.
Tag: Four turns of tying silk.
Body: Rear third - pale yellow wool, middle third - hot orange wool,
thorax - greenish seal’s fur.
Hackle: Short fibred olive-green hen.

I'm certain that fly would be a shad killer, and no doubt a good steelhead pattern as well. Nicely done, Ruard.

Ruard,
As always, a beautiful pattern from your vice. I am more impressed with the dubbing brushes or pre-spun bodies that you have pictured. You do this quite well and I'm glad to see you are leading the way in consistant and colorful bodies. You have mastered this technique quite well and it shows on the flies that you post. The bodies of our flies are the focal point (just my opinion. Other opinions are welcomed) and you are doing them quite well. Thanks for sharing!
From the den,
Dougsden
