Got some old Blackbird feathers from a friend. They were very nice and soft, similar to the starling but slightly more durable I think. Used old Pearsalls 6B waxed with dark wax and a some pecock behind the head to support the hackle slightly.

Very nice indeed! A great way to start the new year.

Great lookin'... What did you use for the head?? Is that just some part of the hackle quill?

It's cool to see the use of blackbird here. This is a really nice looking fly. And I have found starling to be easily degraded, but only after several fish, which is more than I expect from most spiders. I can see how this would be more resilient. Great spider.

That's a very nice lookin tie. Black bird is one of the feathers I have not bee able to find yet.

About 60 million of them flew over my house last month headed in your direction .

We have plenty of starlings and crows but BB's are had to come by. They must have diverted to somewhere else. You could do everyone a favor and step out and blast a few.
