Those are lovely!

A question for you: where in the water column are lough patterns traditionally fished? To my eye, they would make a killer emerger, even in swift water.

Very nice flies, you know! I think they might work very well on a loch as well.

Glad you posted them Otter. I get Trout (U.K) Magazine and I have been tying more somber copies of some if them
in size 10,12 and 14. I often weight them with a small bead or a strip of lead wire for deep fishing or fast water.
By all means feel free to post more.

Hi Ruard
I am not familar with what flies are recommended for Orkney, and my experience in fishing loughs/lochs for wild browns is limited enough.
I would happily fish traditional lough style any wild trout/sea trout loch/lough with the following
Golden Olive Bumble
Claret Bumble
Clan Chief
KingsMill
Green Peter
Claret Dabbler
Silver Dabbler
Olive Dabbler
Claret Sedgehog / Halfhog
Muddler
Invicta
Silver Invicta
Dunkeld
Thunder And Lightning - trout version
A good start would be Stan Headleys Book -

I think he is from orkney.
Surely there is an honest scotsman here that can point you in the right direction

for LOUGH flies for orkney.
