I've wavered about posting this because it doesn't doesn't really "pop", but decided this morning that the simplicity itself is appealing enough.

Hook: Daiichi 1640, #12
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer, Jasper
Hackle: Upper covert from wing of French partridge, one side stripped
Body: Thread, wrapped back flat (unwound) to minimize bulk, then touching turns forward wound tight

I am glad you posted this fly. I am inspired by how skillfully you tyed this fly. It may seem like a simple fly, but looks are deceptive. The delicate hackling and the slenderness of the head are impressive. It is not easy to form such a slender head with Pearsall's, and a sparce dressing like this would reveal any flaw in technique. Best of all, this pattern with readily catch fish.

PS - I love jasper silk!

That fly pretty much defines "sparsely tied." Nicely executed.

Exceptionally well tied, a good example of sparse tying.
