Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer, crimson
Hackle: Jackdaw
Body: Thread wraps with touch-dubbed mole

Bill, you're stealing my thunder on my swap flies. I'm tying the Iron Blue Dun, ala Nemes (same as the historic pattern, and the one used by Leisenring/Hidy.) Not to worry, Mine are tied on a daiichi 1550, white tail fibers included. But you've set a high bar...so I'm really going to have to come through. Thanks for the added pressure. Nicely done. Of course...as we're learning...the fly tied short isn't as effective as if tied the "right" way. Isn't that what we're concluding in the other thread? Am I getting the wrong message? (huge smiley). I like those 1640's a lot.

Bill,
I am falling in love all over again with the Iron Blue. Your pattern is beautiful! Soo delicate and refined! We are very glad you bought your digital camera and learned the ropes from all the helpers here on the forum! Please keep feeding us dear friend. We can't get enough!

Great tie...Great photo. You can really see the delicate structure of the jackdaw.

Hey folks ... please read my original post carefully ... I did not tie this! This fly was tied by John Shaner, who did it at a tying demo he put on at Great Feathers a couple of weeks ago. I was lucky enough to walk away with it at the end of the day, and posted it here only because I thought it was beautiful.

Still a great fly even if it wasn't tied by you. :D

I thought by your post that you had seen him tie the pattern at the demo and thought you were sharing.
