i've known Matt since 2002 when he was just an assistant at the Museum in Livingston. He was bout 19 then......now he's the Education Director for the FFF.....of course the museum has ridden off into the sunset..........so everyone that use to work out of there, is now over in the new offices on the road to "The Park." i can't tell you how many times Matt talked us into this or that.....he's impossible to refuse once he gets his hooks into you. But it's always fun to help him out with whatever he's got goin'. And he always has somethin' goin'. He's a highly motivated cat. He loves teaching kids especialy, and that's usually what he's after us for. Almost all of the Mayflies out west are at least one size bigger than in the east. So don't be afraid to tye that even in a size 10 if your fishin' on the Yellowstone along the seams of riffles. Try downstream of the bridge at the KOA campground just south of town (Livingston, MT.) along the road to the park...........that's a great very long riffle, that holds lots of fish. You may catch a Whitefish for every Trout you hook up.....but they're fun too. And try east of town as well. The Yellowstone runs north outta the Park to Livingston and thens turns east at Livingston. Most people fish it from the Park to Livingston.....but there is some GREAT water east of town as well, and you won't see as many anglers there. And if your there, give Shield's a shot as well.....it's a trib. that comes in from the north side of the Yellowstone bout 15 minutes by car east of town. And don't pass up Mill Creek, another trib, that hits the Yellowstone from the east side when it's still running north, not far south of Livingston.

i almost forgot.....if any of you EVEr get a chance to take that class (Thread Control), with Wayne Luallen.....don't pass that up. It's incredable and will say you lots of trail and error mistakes and or speed up your learning curve tremendously. Wayne is an amazing tyer. For many years he was doing full dressed..........but now he's gone back to just doing Trout flies. Watch him tye sometime if you can............you'll be blown away.
