A truly creative pattern, Ray, and an awesome job of wrapping three different colors together while maintaining their orientation. I also really like that dyed starling hackle.

Looks like a (ice)candy to me. Did you bleached the hackle by yourself?

Here is a new variation using brown, orange and yellow marabou silk (BOY) wrapped over a white gossomer silk underbody. The body of the finished fly looks very much like a quil body when it gets wet. It is very easy to get wrap the body and keep the orientation of the color bands. The trick is to keep good tension on all three strands while wrapping them forward. They are all wrapped simultaniously.

Here is a photo of the BOY color variation.

I think this is screaming for a SOY Ginger combination, don't you think? It just sounds tasty to me, for some reason. :D

Ruard - I bought the bleached starling skin from Jim Slattery (http://www.jimsflyco.com/). I could not find them listed on his website, but he has carried them in the past. They are lovely.

Thanks guys. I got the BOY version wet and really like the look of the abdomen. The yellow becomes less prominent, yet the body still has a nice variegated look. I will be adding a range of these to my fly box for spring.

Ray,
I am interested in the hook. Is the hook model # correct. I can not seem to find them.

I love to see a fly and say, "I really wish I had tied that." It's very nicely done. I can imagine the change in tone with wet silk. I meant to mention that to Hank...I'll do that now.

Outstanding...are you tying full rotary? It seems that a traditional vise would make maintaining thread tension pretty tough as you went to switch hands...of course, what fellows (e.g. the "full-dress" guys) are able to pull off never ceases to amaze me. :)
