Very, very nice! I was gonna ask what the body was. It's all clear now!

Do you just wrap the herl on straight or is it reinforced with thread?

In this case I just wrapped it over the top of the tying thread. It won't be very durable, as is. I intended to counter wrap the tying thread over the top of the herl, but it broke off during my first wrap. The albino peacock herl is very delicate. For a fishing fly, I would recommend counter wrapping the herl with a fine silver wire. The stainless steel dubbing brush wire would work nicely.

Beautifully done. I have not seen the albino peacock used before and this creates some amazing contrast. Good call on the wire rib, but this has so many lively materials, a little chewing will probably make this one work out just fine.

I'm always trying to think of a fly approaching a trout and straight on he's going see that gorgeous grouse against that peacock thorax, but if from an angle, or from below, that contrast should certainly grab his attention. Lots of life in this one.

Vicki - Your question sent me back to my vice and I ended up tying a slightly different fly. See my White Silk & Silver fly. I love the look of the silver rib over the white silk. Thanks for the well placed question.

Glad I could help. The other one is pretty too. The silver and white complement each other nicely. I just asked because I'm never able to get the bodies looking as neat as this one when the thread is twisted in the herl. It would definitely not look so segmented. I'm always curious when something looks so perfect!
