Variation of Dark Watchet

According to Fogg, there have been several variations on this theme. This is one of the four dressings that Pritt lists.
Dark Watchet
Hook: Daiichi 1640, #14 (this is a larger size than normally recommended)
Working thread: Pearsall's Gossamer, purple
Hackle: Jackdaw neck feather
Body: Mole fur sparsely dubbed on purple and hot orange silk threads twisted together and palmered up shank

i think the hook sucks far as how it "looks".....but the fly is VERY nice.

Bill, I have seen a lot of variations on this fly. This one shows more purple than I'm used to seeing, but should be nice when it turns really dark. What I love about the Dark Watchet is how all those materials just meld when saturated. And I don't mind the 1640 on small patterns. To each his own.

Very nice, the jackdaw throat hackle can really test ones ability to do gentle wraps.

Nice work on this fly. I'm sure it'll work VERY well. I think the hook is very appropriate. Roger Fogg reccommends this very hook for North Country Flies. To each his own, I guess.
