Playing with my new friend...the dun dyed peacock. I broke this pattern in 3rds. I pushed the hackle back to the 1/3 spot to play with proportions a bit in order to add the amount of dubbing at the head area.


Hook: Mustad 3399A #14
Thread: Pearsall's silk dark brown
Hackle: Medium Partridge
Body: Rear, natural peacock; front peacock dyed dun
Head: Australian Opossum underfur

Looks good enough to eat.

Another winner... Are you palmering the peacock, or making a chenille?

I swear that thing looks real, and would be very surprised if it doesn't turn out to be a killer pattern.

Bear - I wrapped two twisted herls of peacock tightly, then counter wrapped the peacock with the left over tag end of thread (from the initial attachment of thread on the hook) for a bit more durability. I had to do the two colors of peacock in different stages so it seemed a bit difficult to twist the thread and peacock together in a rope.

CB, that would be a go-to pattern for me. I could fish that with a lot of confidence, guessing that the fish see's it the way I do. Great composition.
