That's a great template for tying lots of differnt patterns. It's kind of like using black and white moose mane for the old Mosquito patterns, but with a nice taper and endless variety. Nice fly. Also, strip a grizzly hackle and try that, it's a similar effect.

WOW! That KILLS Bill...........bout as sparse as sparse can get. :D VERY classy.....

William, i recently did a bunch of Grey Fox Variants for a NAFF Swap.......i used Grizzly hackle stems for the bodies................came out great. i coated (soaked) them with Loone's water based head cement after wraping them in......they looked real nice. Two light Ginger hackles, and one Grizzle hackle for the wings. Used a Gamakatsu dry fly (up eye), hook size #10.

Hank.....when are we gonna start seein' some pics???????????

W'head, Howdy;

When I can get my camera to speak and understand MACRO.

The only one I've been able to capture I was doing a hand held camera shooting thru the magnifying light I have.
Musta shot a dozen to get one that wasn't fuzzy, blurry or w a y outta focus...
Gettin rid of winter's HIGH elect. bills and propane usage. Should be able to get a tripod and a camera that can do macro...
Thanks for askin... :lol:

Bill,
That is one killer looking fly. Two stems wrapped together? Is there any end to your creativity? We are really enjoying these Bill! Please keep us up to date with hook, hackle, and camera!

Bill,
I find myself going back to your picture of your Grouse and Quill and I am astonished at it's sheer beauty. Esp. the Hackle. They look as if each one is placed and tied in individually. It's simply amazing and I just wanted you to know this!
Always observing,
Dougsden
