After reviewing the video link from Bill and rereading the comments on my last feeble effort I took up the challenge and think this one came out better.
I'm still playing with these. I rather like the hackles and will be giving them a good swim during opening week.

I just decided to cover up the thread base with wrapped pheasant tail before I tied in the hackle just to give a little more dimension to that area. It just looked a little more finished to me. I tied that first then wrapped the partridge hackle tied in by the tip, curved side up wrapping back towards the hook bend, secured that with brown 8/0 tying thread. Then I tied in three more pheasant tail fibres, covered the hook back towards the bend of the hook with a thread base then back up behind the hackle with the thread. Then I dubbed the body using yellow rabbit dubbing working back down the hook shank from the hackle to the bend. I then took the pheasant fibres I had tied in and wrapped them as a rib down towards the hook bend and secured and whip finished with the thread. And just in case that wasn't clear as mud try the tenkara usa website. Here's the link, compliments of Bill!

Basically yes. It's all much easier once you've learned it the "normal" way.

to be "Kareful" one needs to remember, there is no "normal" way.............

for that would imply that there is an abnormal way............not true...............because fly fishing is represenitive of the highest form of angling.............fly tying is in turn, the highest from of making preparedness...............like the pre-production for a record date..................you get the BEST piano tunner you can book (weeks in advance), and afford.......or you don't do the date.......that, is normal..........but only for those who "know" what it means...........and why...........

That's why it's in quotation marks. I'm sure the Japanese think we're quite backwards!

Vicki, the Japanese (collectively speaking) are the greatest Jazz fans on this planet...........and there's a reason for that......and that reason should tell you all you need to know...............you dig?
