i was going to post here last night, but waited to see what would transpire. i've tyed a lot of those Alec Jackson style Steelie flies.....i have all of his videos and got inspired to learn that stuff after watching those a few years back. i'd definately reccommend those videos to anyone who wants to watch a guy speed tye on a Nor Vise. He's extremely accurate and proficiant.
He never ribs a fly.....he uses the tinsel with the herl (wether that be Peacock or Ostrich), and twist them together, to then do his bodies. Makes a more durable body that way i spose, although perhaps not as fancy. But i doubt he's much worried bout that. These are fishin' flies. Another cool thing in the videos is his explanations about why he came up with the differnet finishes on those hooks.....gold, nickle (silver), blued, besides black and bronze. And under which fishing conditions he goes to/with the different finishes. i got to meet Mr. Jackson in Albany, Oregon in '08 when i was out there for the Northwest Fly Tying Expo (Oregon Council of the FFF).....pretty cool dude. Very easy goin'.......
Nice tyin' Roadkill. Btw, are you Dan. If so, i'd say i still need to get those hooks off to you.
