Mayfly Ross

Post by Ruard » Sat Apr 16, 2011 9:22 am

This fly has its name because of the cat of Doug. He send me some of the "dubbing"of the belly of his cat and I mixed it with yellow rabbit fur. He also send me some yellow duck feathers and I used these as a hackle and as a tail. Thanks Doug!!! The dubbing of ross is quite grey but soft.

Hook: Hayabusha 390 # 12
Thread: orange 14/100
Tail: yellow duck feather
Body: dubbing in a loop corded together with small gold oval tinsel
Hackle: yellow duck
Head: Peacock fiber.

OMG! That is a seriously awesome fly, Ruard. There's nothing about I don't like; it is, as Mark points out, simply beautiful.

This fly makes me smile. :D Wonderful fly Ruard. I just love the graceful curve of the tail and the hackle. The interaction between the members and the various materials makes this extra special.

Love this one as well, especially the contrast between the peacock collar and orange thread head. :)

Thank you for the nice words. Vicky the hackle was quite difficult, the feathers are mostly to big for a fly on hook #12.
