Very nice! Like the look of the swept hackle, and the head/thread color
is a great choice.
Thanks for posting

I have to say this one has been bookmarked for a while as well--I bet it would make an awesome sulphur immitation, with the tail serving as a trailing shuck.

Hi Ray,

Ruard - I used a wooden dubbing block to form the body. The process is very similar, but I find it easier with the dubbing block.

Ray, this fly goes toward the discussion of "setting" the hackle. I see the sleek sweeping set for this. You haven't shown a prefence for any one "set" or angle in your tying that I can see. Any reason for the swept back hackle on these?

It's been a while since I tied these, but I think the sweep of the hackle was caused when I brushed the body with velcro after the tying process. I seem be remember wanting a nice fuzzy body. Sometimes the dubbing can get matted down during the wrapping process. If you stroke it with a piece of velcro it refreshes ("refuzzerates"

) the body. The hackle fibers just go along for the ride and become swept back. Then again, I may have just swept them out of the way when I was finishing the head...
