I tied these up for a local publication, but they didn't make the cut due to space restrictions. Thought you might like to see them...

Great ties--I especially like the first: hen hackle or Chinese rooster? :)

Aaron, your flies never fail to amaze me! All three are superb. Did any other flies make the publication? I realize you probably can not share them with us, but it would be nice to hear your getting published/recognized. Kudos...

Thanks everyone.

Yes, it is Chinese rooster. The barbs are not all that hard--I've got genetic hen that's stiffer. I've been using this particular cape for a few years. It's close enough for me to call it a "soft hackle".

I like the first in the series too. It's probably the best tied and it is very similar to patterns I fish regularly. It's identified on Tenkara USA as a "mayfly caddis variant" (or at least I think so without looking). The last fly is finished at the rear and didn't come out nearly as nice as some of Mark's examples of the style, but It has the "fullness" of the original examples I've seen.

Unfortunately none of my shots were used in the article, but apparently there's a good shot of my bum while I'm tenkara fishing (my 15 minutes of rather embarrassing fame ).

A "Mayfly/Caddis Variant"..........thass kinna cool...........all purpose fly......works on any hatch........by the looks of it, it'd prolly work just fine during a Stonefly hatch as well...... :D Hope to see you in Montana for the Tenkara Summitt. ;)

These are beautiful! Especially last two...

I suppose that finishing knot is not at hook eye?

I keep going back to Fly #1: is it just the structure of the hackle that's holding the PT fibers upright, or is there a trick to maintianing that angle above the hookshank? :)

Aaron, these all turned out really nice. These flies still fascinate me. I'm digging No. 2 if we're voting. I just like the simplicty and posture of the thing. Is it tied off at the bend as well?

Beautifully executed! I'm curious about the first one as well.
