Hackle: Woodcock
Body: Two porcupine guardhairs twisted with Golden Pheasant tail herls and tying thread
Thorax: Woodcock hackle fibers
Tail: Woodduck

Quill Gordons, Slate Drakes, Brown Drakes, Isos, Dark Cahills, prolly even March Browns.....not to mention at least a handfull of different Caddis (fish don't give a damn if it has tails).....it'll work on all a that and more. Just size it right.......... ;)

Hard to go wrong with woodcock and wood duck; well dressed to be sure.

I definitely like the contrast between the smooth porcupine and the spiral of GP fiber--it's got "exoskeleton" written all over it. (BTW, I'm digging the mallard flank tails as well... :) )

This must be the only rated PG thing Giger has ever been associated with :D

Thanks for the kind comments. This is the first time I've used such a large hackel from a wood cock wing. Its pretty flimsy, but has great mottling. This might be cool with a hen hackle tied through the thorax.
