This is not a dressing I copied from the Fogg book, or any other for that matter. Motivated by another thread on this forum about soft hackled flies and caddis, my intent here is to come up with a pattern that will catch fish by imitating the small olive-bodied/light tan-winged caddis that show up periodically in this region.

Hook: Mustad R50 (94850), #16
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer silk #6A, light olive
Hackle: Light ginger (bleached) partridge neck feather (courtesy of CreationBear -- thanks, Jon)
Body: Heavily waxed thread wraps
Thorax: Bleached peacock eyestick, dyed Muskrat Grey
Head: Sorry about that

agreed, I like the original mix of materials. I think caddis heads are a bit larger, you've fallen short. too bad.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments ... not just on this posting, but all the photos I've put up recently. It is most encouraging to have folks for whom I have high regard saying positive things about my efforts.

Nice one Bill.....i still have a hard time commin' to grips as to how you guys can fish these things with confidence.....what i mean is, flies that are dressed so sparsely. i always feel like a fish wants a MEAL! So put some hackle on there.......but i'm sure you've had plenty of success with such patterns, and the real bugs only have six legs anyway......... i guess i just hate to think that one's presentation has to be so accurate that a fish can just open and close when your fly drifts right to his nose.....becuase why in the hell would he move for such a miniscule meal?????????? He'd loose more energy gettin' there and back than the meal is worth..................but.

What a classic! I can imagine this one well soaked and swinging in the currents toward a beautiful brownie.....he would find it "irresistable" like the rest of us human brown trouts!
