Wet/Dry

Since I am baby sitting my grandson, awaiting the arrival of his little sister(my Grandaughter), and since he is napping.....I decided to take a wet and dry picture of one of my patterns at the same time.

Hook - Mustad 3906B size 14
Thread - Olive 8/0 Uni
Tail - Dark Partridge
Abdomen- Amber V-Rib ( small) wrapped over a base of Olive Thread. Top half colored with Green Sharpie
Thorax - Chocolate Rabbit slightly teased out
Collar - Brown Hen Hackle with a Black center stripe (Furnace?)
Image

I have to admit, I was a bit under impressed with the fly when it was wet. The Thorax and Hen Hackle blended well together, but the Abdomen stayed relatively the same. I suppose I should not be surprised as the abdomen is virtually all man made (V-Rib). Lesson learned and relearned? Most synthitics will stay the same color wet as when they are dry. This is really at the surface of the water column. I am sure the colors change as the depths get deeper, but I dont have the equipment to experiment with that aspect.

Yeah, I know. I need to keep a better eye on where my background is.

Still no fishing eh?

It's all good. What a great idea and a great stonefly? pattern. It really doesn't matter what you think about it though, what do the fish think about it?

" Still no fishing eh? "

Ha Ha Thats funny........ NOT! No fishing and no baby. Yet!

The fish at times like this pattern, but if had to choose just one style it would be an all fur body. You are very right, it's what the fish think.
Oh, and this baby sitting stuff is all good, but he better have a baby sister, and his grandma better be home before the Bronco game tonight....There is beer to be consumed! :D

Can't be all bad then! Anyway just wake your grandson up and take him fishing. Maybe you can slide that past your lovely wife after all that's what grandpas are supposed to do!

Wayne, I'm loving all your recent posts. I'll get to the background thread in a second, not that you'll be surprised at my response. Your pics are becoming more helpful all the time. These are great too. I love the comparative posts the best. I'm always surprised everytime I dunk one after tying it, either at the change or lack of. Dorks. :D Nice tie too.

Better indeed. Try cropping the photo to show only the fly on the right. I am interested in seeing the close up.
