Since I live near "horse country" in Maryland (thoroughbreds, jumpers, and hunters), I figured I might as well climb on the horsehair bandwagon (william says he doesn't mind ...

)
Hook: Mustad C49S, #14
Thread: Sheer 14/0, black
Hackle: Starling
Abdomen: Horse tail hair
Thorax: Bronze peacock eyestick herl

Very cool...I think you'll find that that one will be great in the film--I was out a bit with my horsehair ties and found them to float at least as well as some patterns I intended as dries.

Reminds me of a mosquito larva. Excellent pattern, Bill.

Well done in every regard. I really do like the horse for quill bodies. Wrapped as well as this it does look like a midge, and if they are buoyant like CB says it will hang just in position. I haven't had a chance to fish one yet, but its high on the list. This is really nice. I'll try to make good use of the bit you sent and we can compare notes. Your horse seems to have been easier to get along with than the beast mine came from. Maybe I'll have better luck with this darker hair. He must have been treated well.
