Halloween Caddis
Hook - Tiemco/TMC Model 2487 (Size 10) Caddis Pupa Hook (Thanks John/CreationBear)
Underbody - UNI-Stretch (Orange)
Abdomen - UTC Vinyl Rib (Size Midge/Orange)
Thread - 8/0 UNI-Thread (Orange)
Thorax - Beaver Dubbing (Black)
Hackle - Eastern Oregon Partridge Hackle (Thanks Carl/Old hat)

I tyed this fly shortly after finishing the recent IBF swap, in hopes of posting the pattern before Halloween (thus the color scheme). Unfortunately my computer crapped out on me and I was on a business trip for a couple weeks. The hooks and hackle were gifts I received for hosting the swap (thanks John & Carl). Hope you enjoy this even though it is too late for Halloween.

Good show Ray. Do I need to ask what your gonna be swinging that after? The taper of the abdomen is perfect.

I have seen a tier using a material that sounds like the one Mark is talking about. I believe it may have been larva lace and he injected it with mineral oil if I remember correctly.

Caddis, and Orange? I had to tie one up!

All I could find was medium V-Rib in my bag of tricks....I will try some clear midge tubing over Orange thread tomorrow.

Cool fly Ray!

Nice Wayne!

Please post a pic of the clear tubing over the orange. It sounds like a good idea.

With a size smaller hook, Ray was able to get 1/3 more wraps with midge V-rib on his fly than I was using medium V-rib. That and Ray is just one heck of a tyer!

Wow, that is terrific Wayne! I love the taper you got on the body. I've been playing around with different methods of forming the underbody. I was originally going for something like you've tyed first try. Great job.

On another note, I have also been experimenting with coloring the finished flies with Sharpie markers. I color the back of the fly with a brown Sharpie marker to give some contrast between the back and belly of the fly. I will try to post some photos tomorrow.
