Innovative and, as usual, superbly dressed.

Hans, Howdy;

Georgous fly, you must have been in a wintery mood when you tyed that one.
At least that is the feeling I get from it. Cool and icy...

Hans,

Beautiful fly! Did you tie the barbs out over the eye and then reverse them?

Correct. In all my recipes I list my materials in the order I tie them in. This generally provides enough info to visualize the tying sequence.

Outstanding--I've had your "Snowshoe Emerger" with the wood duck flank hackle bookmarked for a long time as well. :)

A question, though: under what fishing conditions do "waterfowl" hackled flies excell? My intial guess would be that they're good "fast water" flies, but since I've seen a lot of Irish lough flies with mallard flank, I'm not so sure anymore... :lol:

Hans, what is the point of wraping the hackle out over the eye "first?" Is that a durability thing? Tkx. ;)

No, it is a long barbs/small hook, and a preference of small and neat head on fly thing. The durability is a bonus ;)
