Correct. In all my recipes I list my materials in the order I tie them in. This generally provides enough info to visualize the tying sequence.

Outstanding--I've had your "Snowshoe Emerger" with the wood duck flank hackle bookmarked for a long time as well.
A question, though: under what fishing conditions do "waterfowl" hackled flies excell? My intial guess would be that they're good "fast water" flies, but since I've seen a lot of Irish lough flies with mallard flank, I'm not so sure anymore...

Hans, what is the point of wraping the hackle out over the eye "first?" Is that a durability thing? Tkx.

No, it is a long barbs/small hook, and a preference of small and neat head on fly thing. The durability is a bonus
