Our friend Doug recently gifted me with some wonderful neck hackles from a hen Prairie Chicken, and here's the combination that first came to mind ...
Hook: Daiichi 1550, #14
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer #14 Claret
Hackle: Prairie Chicken hen neck feather
Tag/Rib: Gold wire, 2X fine
Body: Waxed thread wraps

I really like that one, I especially like the claret, for drinking as well.
Now to find out what a Prairie Chicken is.

What an awesome looking tie tie2fish. Beautiful proportions and lovely colour/material choices, you've done your fiends Prairie Chicken neck hackles proud...
I love the traditional looking patterns, makes me wish I had more of my materials with me.

			Gallinaceous, man.

That's a great looking hackle, and the superfine rib is imspired on that well-waxed silk.

What a handsome fly! An instant classic. I love the fibers of the hackle. They have an appealing fluffy quality.

			Dear Bill,
I hope your mind keeps coming up with combinations to compliment this hackle! This fly is stunning! And it looks so dog-gone buggy! A beautiful fly from talented hands. We are indeed blessed!
Great job friend,
Dougsden

Yeah but does that prairie chicken still have feathers?
Beautiful tie Bill. So perfect and simple looking and exquisite. Exactly what we've come to know from you!
