Flies of Jim Wynn

Post by Ruard » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:31 am

Flies of Jim Wynn: Jim Wynn was a fisher of the Warfe in Yorkshire. I have a PDF with a list of wet flies. I shall try to tie his flies and share them on this forum. If I use other material then in the recipe , I shall mention that.

Green and Yellow Bloa:

Image

(2 ) . GREEN AND YELLOW BLOA (JW) .
Hook: 14 & 16
Hackle: The whitish feather from the hooded crow neck.
Body: 0live green and yellow silks twisted together and wrapped in
alternate bands, then ribbed with fine gold tinsel.
Use: One of the Light Duns and may be taken as an imitation of the
Yellow Sally. It is without doubt a useful fly during the summer months.

Substitued the hooded crow for a cream hen saddle.

Ruard - These are graceful flies, yet they look highly fishable. Splendid! And the photography is top-notch too.

Well done, Ruard. I especially like the first one -- it is quite graceful, with natural blended colors and an excellent job of hackling. This will be a great project for us to follow; looking forward to the next set.

These flies rock!!!
Very beautiful renditions, you should be proud of them. I can't wait to see the next additions.
I'm especially fond of the first fly, simply stunning!!!

Ruard,

Do you ever sleep?

Please give us an akvarell of a fly too.

Thank you DD, did not know that there was a book of the Flies of Jim Wynn. I try to get a signed copy.

I sleep well thank you!! :P :P

I don't think that I shall make a watercolor of a fly. It is just not my piece of cake.

Don't mean to hijack this wonderful thread with Ruards beautiful flies, but more beauty will add to it. Davy's painting is beautiful! The technique reminds me of an American artist Bob Ross. I dare say, however, Davy's technique is not even close to the master impressionist, Claude Monet. Just a peek at some of his work tells the story:
