Grey Gamakatsu plus a Czech hook softie

Post by willowhead » Sat Dec 24, 2011 6:49 pm

Here's the little one i did on that new Gamakatsu hook, the R17-3FT .......body is just the bleeched and dyed Grey Peacock herl, twisted around the thread and wraped. Hackle is simply Hung. Part., same for the tail.....tail fibers came off the same feather as the collar. The hook is VERY cool........
same fly both pics. ;)
The other fly (top pic), is tyed on a Czech hook........Knapek is the brand/company name of the hook..............gorgeous little barbless & extremely sharp hook. No tail on this one. ;) .......click the pics for best veiwing........ :D

Mark it is obvious that you take as much care in selecting your material as you do in tying the pattern itself. Put the two together as you have here, and the result is a GORGEOUS pattern (s). I am humbled by your skills. Very well done sir!

Thank you very much Kelly.....in terms of "MORE"........make sure you get over to see a couple flies i'll be putting up over at Kars' thread bout the KILLER flies his Ghillie in Wales tyed. You GOTTA see those flies..........they, and the scenery where he went fishing inspired me to tye the two i'll be posting over there, along with a fly i had seen here where one-a-the-guys had used MaCaw feather fibers for a body........that was also part of the inspiration for one of the two you'll see there when i get 'em up. ;) And actually it was Bill's feather fiber body from the other day as well. Figured i'd take MaCaw, and try to do what Bill did with whatever it was he used........i think you'll like it. 8-)

What a fishy, fishy looking fly. I'll be so glad when Christmas is over and I can really get into tying. The itch is on. :D

Thankx Vicki.....yeah, ya better hop to it........i'm gonna use the flies from our last IBF Swap, and the current IBF swap, and all those Beauties you sent me, up in Roscoe, and that's all i'm gonna use. Yeah, i'm sentimental at times........but you better be........at times.........or the power of the music will never be able to heal you like it can.......... ;) Just heard a KILLIN' piano/violin duet of Silent Night.......i need a tissue. :D
Don't forget to check in at Kars (Ghillie flies), thread tomorrow. 8-)

Believe me I got more than enough flies for Roscoe. I may have to give some away just so I can tie more....fresh ones! :D

The music of the river can heal all.....

Those are just simply beautiful dressings, Mark. Perfect examples of symbiosis, where the overall effect is greater than the sum of the parts. Some folks might be surprised at seeing these from you, incorrectly assuming that "all" you can do is the Jazz Flies genre. How wrong they are!!!
