It is raining here and the streams are too high to fish, so I tied some soft hackled flies and thought I would share them with you. They are all tied on a #19 tiemco 102Y except the red ostrich herl bodied soft hackle fly, which is tied on a #18 mustad signature R50U-94842 dry fly hook. Currently, I am also trying to improve my photography skills, which are lacking at the moment. Any suggestions you can give me on tying and photographs would be appreciated. Take care. Otto

Ah the wonders of winter and all the time to tie. Isn't that what the season is about... slowing down, taking in the beauty and tying flies endlessly with new colors and materials. Perfect example of time at the vice. I'll take those on the water for you and catch a slew of fish.

Those are beautiful wee soft hackles, Otto; it's good to see you back showing off your tying skills.

Excellent flies, Otto. The Tiemco 102Y hook was one of Sylvester Nemes favorites for soft hackle patterns. He lists many patterns based on this hook in his book "Soft-Hackled Fly Imitations". I bought some of the hooks earlier this year to tye some of his trico patterns. They're great hooks.

Kelly and others, I hope these close up photos help. I am sorry but I am still trying to figure out my camera and how to take better close up photos. Otto

newriverspey, Howdy;

Looks like you've zeroed in on it.

Great looking flys and the pix just get better...
