Rainbow Sowbug Softy

Time I get posting some patterns again.
This has been a pretty decent pattern for me. I like them in size 12, but they work great down to size 18 as well.
Hook: Any straight shanked nymph, sizes 18-12
Thread: Red UTC Red 70
Body: Wapsi Rainbow Sow-Scud Dubbing
Spine: Medium Red Wire
Hackle: Partidge
Head: Red UTC Red 70, superglued

Very creative tie Scott. Sometimes just the most subtle of changes or additions to flies can make a huge difference. Thanks for sharing.

Zinga! There's a keeper! This fly has great eye appeal to us humanoids and I am sure no less to to our fishy friends under the surface.

Thanks everyone. This is currently one of my favorite flies since there are a lot of sowbugs in the waters I fish, it really does the trick. This dubbing really is fun to tie with, it gives the fly a really buggy look. Especially if I pick it or brush it out, I don't find the need to do so on this pattern though.
