Blue Boy

Post by chase creek » Sat Jan 14, 2012 8:03 pm

Hook - Diachii 1640 #12
Thread - Black
Body - Sulky "Silver Metallic Blue" from fabric store; two layers; last layer waxed and touch dubbed
with dark Hare's mask
Thorax - Wapsi Super Bright Fl Blue
Hackle - Starling

Going to try coating last layer of body with THIN layer of super glue or SH instead of wax - should toughen the body up a bit.

I do like this fly. I have a liking for blue flies, probably because it is Scotland's football strip.
By-the-way, you'l notice I called it football, not 'soccer', yuk!!

I think we were the penultimate country to drop the "soccer" tag from the beautiful game, we used to refer to rugby (90% played with the ball in hand!) as football............. sometimes it is just hard educating colonials!
