I was playing with the Clark's Dubbing Block. I think it worked just fine. I still need fine tuning on how much dubbing to use. Here are a couple of the flies. I like the second one better. But I think they will catch fish, no doubt about that.

I did a couple with ribs, and one with a copper wire rib. Funny, neither of these have any rib. The second photo just looks like it. The dubbing appears fairly drab in the photo, but actually it has different colors mixed. This is a concoction I came up with a while back. I used the hen feather left on my tying stand, just to see what it would look like. I seemed to prefer the Hungarian Partridge with this dubbing.

Aint those block bodies fun to build? I have cards full of bodies that are too heavy in the dubbing- strange colours and too long..... but I had more fun making them than I usually do tying!

Yes, they were kinda fun to build. I need to make up some more. I want more practice before I get larger stores of the cards made up. Today I just made several of my homemade dubbing, with orange silk. It turned out pretty good I thought. I was pleased with the dubbing block. I cut the thread too short at first, then too long. I need to do more before I get it down right. Glad you liked the flies. Thanks.

Little hint, it is easier to recover thread cut too long than thread cut too short!!!!!

They look like fine ties for the first time out for you on a Clark block. I sure as heck would not be too proud to let them grace my fly boxes.

Mataura Mayfly, I agree 100% in the thread length issue!! I think the fish will like these flies, if they can see them. I think this fly would do well in pretty clear water. In murky water, the fish will probably never see them. Thanks for your comments!

Thank you Vicki. It is a little tricky on getting the right amount. Most of my thread dubbing lines held enough for two to three flies...per line. I need to figure out how to get the right thread length with dubbing for a particular hook. That will just take trial and error. Yes, you should get your block out, and give it a whirl!
