hook .......... #14 or #12,curved, for pupa, up eye
underbody ... one layer od pearl flash tinsel
body .......... dubbing mix, twisted in loop of pale yellow thread
hackle ........ ginger hen neck feather, couple turns;
thorax ........ hare ear dubbing, twisted in a loop and winded during a finishing knot

Dubbing mix: 1/3 light olive antron, 1/3 hare's foot underfur, 1/3 light gray hare's dubbing and just a touch of some ICE dubbing.

Maybe this is not translucent... but I believe that will be semi-transparent when wet (like in Miss wet shirt contest - everything significant is covered all the time, but everything significant is obvious when wet).

That's a great looking fly--snowshoe hare really adds an interesting contrast to the body. :)

I love Caddis pupa. Your pattern should be a knockout this Spring and Summer. Well done sir.

Lady(ies) and gentlemen, thanks!

Hidropsyche caddis is frequent in some favourite streams, so I have this bug in mind. On the other hand, I remember Gary LaFontaine's video - he said something about translucency, that it is never achieved with plastic, semi-transparent materials (at least not good enough for him) and that best solution that he found was fine antron dubbing, sparsely dubbed and then covered with vail of antron yarn over dubbed body. Both his Deep and Emergent Sparkle Pupa utilize that.

Obviously, Hare's Foot Hydro Flymph is modestly on the trail of Sparkle Pupa's.
