the more i see these Grip hooks, the more i like them.........and i must be sick........even the blue background is starting to grow on me .....these puppies look as if they'd be just the ticket on a Spring Creek. For flies of this nature (ribbing wise), just as you did with the Lava fly......are you planning not to fish them very deep at all??? Reason i ask is because it would seem to me that with using a material as delicate as these have incorporated into their ribs, that a counter wraped piece of very fine wire might be greatly benificial in helping to protect said ribbing. But of course that would help to sink the fly.....perhaps to much for how you plan to fish it???

Hans, I've always admired the texture that you get with the argentinian hare for the bodies, as in the top fly. Seems more guardhair than underfur and just the right mix. Is this something that you've mixed yourself? or do you have a source? The texture of your flies using this dubbing has been consistent for years, so I'm curious.

These are both very striking. I agree with Mark on the Grip hooks. Just a very elegant hook for these types of flies. I just ordered a pile of Daiichi 1250's, not quite as exquisite, but not too dissimilar.
