Hans, the ability to discuss the construction of flies as well as appreciate their overall quality is why I admire and (aspire to achieve) your photographs. So my question, are the barbs and fluey barbs tied in seperately or is this one continual wrap? Either way, I really like the fluey material as thoraxes and have gone to using it quite a lot on smaller flies. If this is a continual wrap from bend to hackle, did you bring the wire all the way up throught the thorax? or as I prefer, tuck it under the thorax to hide my sins? I suppose one could bring the wire up the abdomin, having paused the barb wraps at the thorax, tied off the wire, then continued on with the thorax wraps. Just curious. Beautiful fly.

I appreciate the copper wire I used is very fine, and as such not overly clear on the image. I only wanted some strengthening of the abdomen, not an embellishment.

To your question - the rib is abdomen only. The abdomen barbs and the thorax barbs were tied in separately.

Yes. On both dry and wet wrap-hackled flies.

Wow! Gorgeous fly.

Very nice. The more I look at this fly, it just grows on me, it seems that I like it more today, than yesterday! Love that hackle with it too.

That is so lovely.........really like to see a pic of the fly wet.....? Btw, i LOVE the name od the fly. Is it sposed to be hatch specific in any kind of way?
