William,
Between the two of us we may just yet re-write what will be the de-facto hook shape for wingless wets.
Let's just say - if the giants of the past had had access to these graceful hooks we'd
all not know any better, and use them
Cheers,
Hans W

Hans, There is no doubt this type of hook has a place in my box. It wouldn't surprise me if the popularity of this style hook continued to see an increase. Several makers have a version available for good reason. I just can't deny it's effectiveness and I enjoy tying on these. A couple years ago I posted these as my first and foremost "go to" flies, and maybe I'm superstitious about them, but I stick with what works when it does.
Everyone has seen these whenever the question is ask..."if you could only take one fly", or "what's your go to fly". (Otter, I hope you see this. The Hare's Ear gets a lot of respect in my box.)
These are 1150's not 1250's, but the style is close. My catch rate is higher on these flies than any other. Your posts with the Grip hooks have caught my attention for years. It's just elegant, the posture, finish and point length make a very aesthetically pleasing result. Wonderful work and a major influence as usual.

As I am not familiar with the 1250 hook, I can not comment on it too much. You probably know, I am more confident by covering more of the hook. As far as the ingredients? In my opinion Hare and Hen cant be beat! Your technique is immaculate. Very well done sir. As usual.

Speaking of the 1250, how big is the "off-set"? To be honest, I couldn't sleep nights knowing the point was out of plane with the hook shank.
