Izaak, is it just inspiration of materials available that are bringing to life all these wonderful ties?
Or has it been a journey in the making over a period of time?

If I tried to invent on the scale and time frame you are posting these, they would end up very jumbled mismatched hodge podge looking flies.
The ties you are posting are all viable as both fishing flies and shadow box display.
Fine form, great detail and material choice. A highlight to each day seeing each new posting.

Thank you for your kind words! Lately, I have just been looking at the materials I have on hand and thinking about how I can use some of the materials with which I don't have a lot of experience using, but wanting to get more familiar with, and then fashioning them into patterns. I have also been trying some techniques that are new to me. I know some of the flies I have been posting have not been traditional, to say the least, but I have just been trying different combinations of materials to see how they work together. Another big reason for doing this is simply to improve my tying skills. Most of the flies I have posted may be good enough to fool a hungry bluegill, but the photos of the flies reveal things that I can work on. Looking at lots of the fly patterns on Hans' Fly Tier website gives me a lot of ideas and if I ever posted some of my flies there I would like them to look as good as I can make them. For the last 3 years or so I have tied at our "Indiana on the Fly" fly fishing show held in early January and have been demonstrating and showing soft hackle and flymph patterns. They are pretty much a novelty fly around here but I have made some firm believers in their fishing utility. Joining Flymph Forum has been one of the best things I have done in years to learn and improve my tying, and enjoy in sharing ties and flies with others and enjoying their company and good humor.

Exceptionally nice quill bodied fly. This fly has such a graceful beauty, much like a natural insect. Nature sets an incredibly high bar, and yet you have been able to capture the essence in this fly. Kudos.
