Just got the thread today. Was a little concerned about the breaking strength, but no problem at all. Only thing is the spool must be slightly odd size, it wont't fit my Rite bobbins. The spool is too short. But really impressed with this stuff.

That's "Griffith". That's what us old guys get for staying up past 9pm. :?

I was noticing that the spools seemed a little loose aswell, but was chalking that up to thinking my bobbin holders had lost their spring.

I dont know what bug you are trying to imitate, but that pattern would work perfect for the Little Winter Stones. Very well done sir!

Thanks. I use Rite bobbins, but I think just a Teflon filler maybe 1/8" thick would work. Meanwhile took some "old timey" bobbins out of retirement and just squeezed the legs together a bit.
Wasn't really trying to imitate anything special, just trying out the new thread, and I like it a lot. I think next on the agenda might be some March Brown flymphs. First I'm gonna work on getting the Rite bobbins going with this new thread.

Oh, that is cool! I really like the blue tinsel tag. Excellent hook choice, as well. Love it...

Rodger, this is another great pattern. I have used Griffith 14/0 almost exclusively for the past 3-4 years, other than Pearsall's Gossamer silk. I never noticed the shorter spools, as I am still using those old-fangled bobbins. Makes me feel like a nostalgic old coot, pining away for yesteryear, the days before CdC and Antron hit the market. :D :D I do love this thread though. Like I mentioned in DUBBN's thread on thread, there have been some issues with backlash and crowsnests, but some of that might have been user error.

Nice tie--I'd fish that one 24/7 in this part of the world. :) (BTW, I was just viewing a Davie McPhail video where he uses UV resin to protect a holo tinsel tag on a salmon pattern--I can't justify the expense myself, but I could definitely see it if you were tying these by the gross.)
