I was pleasantly surprised yesterday evening when I checked my mail. JohnP had sent me some upeye, english, reverse bend hooks in size 14. Thank you John!
When I look at these hooks I see a touch of class. Something that eludes me on a constant basis. Patterns that I tie would be considered Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer in the world of alcohol. The hooks John sent me beg to be compared to Champagne when they are dressed.

John, heres the best I can do sir. Please dont compare it to the talent pool that haunts this forum, as they are some of the best in the world at their craft.

Nothing wrong with your tying skills. The fly looks great. You are right! There is something extra-ordinary about that hook. Maybe it the rich, chocolate brown finish coat over the whole hook from front to back. Is the barb smallish or medium in size/height? Very classy looking pattern!

The hooks are Black, I was trying to tie using sunlight and cant quite get it right (yet).

That is a great-looking fly, Wayne. I look forward to seeing a picture of it stuck in the lip of a fat brown or sleek rainbow.

Great pattern and very fancy. Beautifully conceived, a bit celebratory with the cork launching like that. It should still sit well next to your PBR gang. I'm working in satisfying the Jack and Coke types.
