Thread - Griffith 14/0 Sheer Ultrafine Claret
Tail - Speckled Brown Hen
Body - Light Hare's Mask
Rib - Fine gold tinsel
Thorax - Dark Hare's Mask
Hackle - Speckled Brown Hen
OK, done tying March Browns. Have a good supply for this AND next year.

That hackle makes such a nice impression. Is that a double hackle?

No,after the thorax is wrapped, the thread is left hanging at the back of the thorax, then the hackle is walked back in open wraps through the thorax to the thread, then the thread is wrapped through the hackle to the front, and the head finished. Reinforces the hackle quite well, making for a more durable fly.
Think I saw this method in Dave Hugh's book "Wet Flies" some time ago, but I'm sure it's much older than that. Similar to Stewart;\'s spiders.

You can never have too many March Brown variations!

(Just my humble opinion)
This one is a beauty. I think I have the same skin. A ringneck hackle would give a similar look I think.
