Quail Bloa 1530

I was lacking a few Light Bloa type patterns in a box and tied a dozen #14 and #16's on Daiichi 1250's. The next day Bill (tie2fish) Shuck showed me some beautiful Dun Hen Bloa's he's tying. Funny how that happens. Like Wayne and the seal patterns. A couple days later I received a beautiful California Quail skin from a friend in CA and had to put it to good use. The quality of the quail feathers is similar to Waterhen.

The classic design crushes the more modern design in this case. I would be interested to see the Quail and Silk on the 1250 hook, but I haven't gotten that far.

Outstanding work on BOTH. I don't have a California Quail. I bid on a couple a while back, but didn't win the bid. These flies are beautiful.

Both very good looking ties and fish takers for sure.

This may be just the ticket to catch a Paiute cutthroat trout (rare species of California trout)...

Beautiful flies, William.

William, these are gorgeous. Very clean, tight technique. Great hackle. Perfect, light dubbing. Also, good photography. You got it all going on.

For those who don't know, it's also called Valley Quail.

I bought a skin a few years back thinking that I might be able to substitute it for waterhen if I ran out. It looks like William has proven it works as such.
