Izaak,
Zinga! This is a beauty! The dyed mallard flank is a really nice touch. Have you ever wondered why they don't make a gold (shiny gold) or silver thread? Wouldn't that have been cool at the head end?
I like what you do esp. this wonderful work of art!
Keep us fed,
Dougsden

Dougsden,

I agree with you...a gold thread would be a wonderful material to use to finish off this fly, and why "they" don't make one is a very good question. :D Thanks to you and others for the kind words!

All the best,

Tom

Like fflutterffly says there are metalic gold threads out there, fabric or craft stores should hold something that would suit, or rod binding thread.
Failing that you could strip some gold thread from that old jacket in the back of the closet from the Disco era..........

Nice looking fly by the way!
