Tom - Did you wrap the hackle on this fly, or did you just tye in the fibers with a distribution wrap? I've been studying this photo for a couple minutes and I can't tell. Nifty fly, by the way. I seem to remember seeing almost this same fly on the forum before.

The hackle is wrapped normally. The barbs originally set pretty much perpendicular to the hook shank, but I pressed them back a bit with my fingers to get the look I wanted and this probably made it look like it may have been tied with a distribution wrap. Hans tied a very nice, simple spider pattern with a silver flash body (and did a better job than I did here), and a Coq de Leon hackle a while back. This fly is not too different. I like the dyed black pheasant rump feathers and thought a black/silver combination might look interesting....

Find yourself a Silver Pheasant skin and you won't have to worry about dying them.

Nice looking fly, again I see what you mean with the colour bounce from the fruit. Just a thought..... do you clean the hooks after the photos? Do the acids from the photography stands react with the hook coating at all?

I loved the fly, simple, yet elegant!
