Well done Murray.

One suggestion to consider - generally the front hackle has the longer barbs (unless you are making a specific statement here)

Cheers,

Great tying lykos! When I use two hackles I normally put the shorter hackle out front aswell. Ne reason, just my preferance.

I did NOT know that Hans...guess I don't pay as much attention to the details of other's flies as I should. Now that you mention it , it makes sense that the forward hackle would sweep over the rearward hackle and blend the colors better in the water...Guess I'm like Dubbn and just have always done it that way...thanks.. :D

Murray - Lovely fly and photograph. I see you have been putting in a lot of time at the vice. It really shows in the details of this fly (great body, nice proportions, compact head, etc.). Great job.

Thanks Ray and Kelly...it doesn't hurt that I have a great resource for learning here and on "other" forums....as evidenced by what Hans taught me today

Heck, if I did that now I would not name any flies until October 1st!
I like your colour combo in this one, I too was not aware the front hackle should be the longer one  must add that to the memory banks.

The color choice of orange came from a local fly guru. "Anything orange" he said...of course that was meant at certain times of the year. By taking Hans' advice and putting the longer orange hackle in front of the red short hackle, my fly color, in the water, will change to more orange with just a hint of red peeking thru...just what I originally wanted...thanks to Hans for another lesson ...hope he doesn't start charging...
