Simple Film Fly is surface emerger; both in the film and just under the film. It's easy to pull it under, so it could be flymph, or not..?!?
hook ..... TMC 2312 #14
thread ... pale yellow
body ..... hare ICE, hare's foot underfur and light olive antron mix (1:1:1) sparsely dubbed in loop; brushed
hackle ... CDC feather, barbs twisted in loop (Marc Petitjean method)

I have no doubt that would be extremely attractive to the fish in our area when there were sulphurs (PMD mayflies) hatching. Nicely done.

Excellent fly for fishing the film!! It would be a nice addition to Hans' thread on the Focus shifting to CDC>

Thank's guys!
This fly isn't my concoction; it's more or less well known in some form or another, especially among few spring creek and tailwater fishemen from our fishing club... As I'm aware, they target flat flows, no matter the speed of flow. Possibility of fishing the fly on or under the surface is appreciated. Size, somewhat shape and color could be adjusted to local condition (as tie2fish mentioned PMDs).
Maybe it is off topic, but Roadkill started...
It's just my impression that CDC on nymphs and wet flies couldn't do any harm, but that it's not necessary. There are some really god feathers for that kind of (soft hackle) usage (partridge is No. 1 for me, followed by hen, jay and so many more...) But, when surface film is targeted, from both directions - CDC is great.

Something tells me the fish will definitely approve of this fly. I can see the fish around here beating the tar out of that fly!

Looks like a very versatile pattern. Love it!

I agree with all the comments. I'd love to see it with a light blu dun hen hackle though. Just in case the CDC collapses and becomes lifeless.
