If my photographic skills were better the pic would show how vivid the gold hook is.

very nice fly and i will add it to my collection of fly recipes
but since you tied it with "silver" thread and "silver" badger, why the reference to "gold"

Norm, the "thread" is Gutermann's sliver (not a typo) which is a clear plastic.
The reference to gold is from the hook which is gold.

To soften the photo next time drape a white tissue or a thin piece of cloth over the flash. Han's might have a better idea but I have used that when photographing flowers.
